Why your PDF keeps turning back
This is the single most common frustration with sideways PDFs, and it is not your fault. When you hit the rotate button in a PDF reader, most of the time you are rotating the view — a temporary setting that affects your screen and nothing else. Close the file, send it to someone, or print it, and it is sideways again.
Every PDF page carries its own rotation value inside the document. This tool changes that stored value, so the page genuinely is the new way up. Anyone who opens the file afterwards — on any device, in any reader — sees it correctly, and it prints correctly too.
Rotating a scan that came out mixed up
Sheet-fed scanners are the usual culprit: a few pages go in the wrong way and you end up with a document where most pages are fine and three are sideways. Rotating everything would only move the problem around. Use only some pages, list the offenders (4, 7, 12-14), and fix just those. If pages went in at different angles, run the tool twice — the tool adds to whatever rotation a page already had, so the second pass picks up where the first left off.

Why does my PDF go back to sideways when I reopen it?

Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Choose "Only some pages" and type the page numbers — single pages (5), ranges (1-3), or a mix (1-3, 5, 8-10). This is the usual fix for a scan where a couple of sheets went through the feeder the wrong way.
Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. Rotation changes one instruction about how each page should be displayed. The text and images are untouched, so there is no re-compression and no loss of quality.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF engine runs inside your browser, so your document is opened, rotated and saved entirely on your own device. Nothing is transmitted, which matters when the file is a contract, a payslip or an ID scan.
